Long before Instagram, Ocean Shores had some of the best photo opportunities on the Washington Coast – and as far as we’re concerned, it still does! Once famous for Pat Boone and a party, party, party atmosphere, many of us still remember fun times climbing around the shipwrecked SS Catala out at Damon Point, the giant Razor Clam that’s MIA, the Gitche Gumee… and the list goes on!
For as long as I can remember, driving on the beach has been a “thing” here in the little seaside hamlet of Ocean Shores. In fact, it’s not just a thing, it’s a main tourist attraction – especially during razor clam season and the 4th of July when beach driving means less hassle for a front row seat.
Ocean Shores is famous for Razor Clamming. So much so that we’ve been celebrating the little buggers at the Razor Clam Festival every third weekend in March for going on thirteen years. Cook-offs, wine tasting, music, special events, and seafood galore. All good stuff!
What does Ocean Shores have to do with Twinkies, you ask? I’ll get to that in a minute but first…
It’s nice to hang out at the ocean when you’re happy. But when you’re sad or mad, defeated, depressed, or unhappy it’s actual medicine. I think. If the ocean’s not your jam, you probably still know what I’m talking about. Giant trees, huge rock formations, grand canyons, mountain ranges, a clear night starry sky in the middle of nowhere. These big natural spaces remind us… we’re small and life is short.
