Bob Ward, Public Relations Manager for the Ocean Shores Development company started distributing the Ocean Observer Newspapers to lot owners who purchased property here in the 1960’s after the 6-acre plot of land was acquired from cattle rancher, Ralph Minard. Bob used his signature tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and experience as a reporter for the Seattle PI to keep the citizens and vacationers that purchased lots informed about the fun and mayhem enjoyed by all! In 1970, when citizens voted to become incorporated as a city, Bob was one of the first city council members.
